“Dirtbags up to dirtbag things,” in MW3 says Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has suffered the inevitable – hackers/modders/cheaters/whatever-you-want-to-call-them have begun running modified lobbies for the Xbox 360 version of the game in order to gain a competitive advantage.

“Do not accept game invites or join Private Matches from any player you don’t know & trust in #MW3. There are dirtbags up to dirtbag things,” comes the advice from Robert Bowling’s Twitter account.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s servers went down for a number of hours last night, but the issue has since been resolved – it isn’t yet known if the loss in service is related to the arrival of online hacks.

The reports come as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 begins a double XP weekend – right off the back of the first standalone DLC content collection drop this week.

MW3 Xbox 360 in-game hacks reported be eyewitnesses include character-based walking AC-130′s, god modes, enhanced speed and infinite ammo. It’s unclear whether PC or PS3 versions of MW3 are yet affected.

Is the game ruined? Can Activision and Infinity Ward pull MW3 back from the brink? As previously stated by Infinity Ward – modifying or abusing the game code results in a swift console ban.

See the hacks in action in the video below. (warning: some bad language!)

Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City Winners At The 2012 Videogame BAFTAs

Author: Arthur Ricky  //  Category: Games and Players, NDS

But Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim miss out on BAFTAs on the night when Minecraft’s Notch is also recognised.

Valve’s Portal 2 was the clear winner at last night’s BAFTAs, nominated in several categories, it took home three of the big awards, winning for Story, Design and Best Game.

Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City won the awards for Action and Performer for Mark Hamill’s portrayal of the Joker. LittleBigPlanet 2 also picked up two awards – for Family and Game Innovation.

There were no wins for two of the year’s biggest-selling games, Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3, with the latter being beaten by its big rival Battlefield 3 in the Audio Achievement and Online Multiplayer categories.

Battlefield 3 also won the Game Award For 2011, which is the only BAFTA that’s voted for by the general public.

Markus Persson, or @notch as he’s known to his thousands of Twitter followers, was awarded the Special Award for his work in creating Minecraft. Previous winners of the Special Award have been Peter Molyneux and Shigeru Miyamoto.

Modestly, Persson said he didn’t consider himself an original game maker. He told BAFTA, “I don’t really think of myself as an innovator. Most of the things I’ve decided to do were things I saw other people do. I’ve maybe just popularised some stuff and perfected the combination of certain elements, like letting people play a game before it’s finished.”

Minecraft has sold more than 5 million copies since its launch two years ago and the combined size of its virtual world(s) is larger than the surface of Neptune.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Beats Avatar To $1 Billion

Author: ally keer  //  Category: Games and Players

MW3 generates $1 billion in little over two weeks.

Modern Warfare 3 passed the $1 billion sales mark after 16 days, Activision has revealed – one day quicker than James Cameron’s record-breaking Avatar made $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

“Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. “Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences.”

MW3 launched on 8 November worldwide and made over three-quarters of that billion dollars at launch, according to an earlier Activision announcement.

Modern Warfare 3’s run at the top of the UK chart was ended by Skyrim today.
