Diablo 3 1.0.3 Patch Blocks Full Game For 72 Hours, Blizzard Responds

Author: Arthur Ricky  //  Category: Games and Players, NDS

Diablo 3 digital purchases will be restricted to limited content for 72 hours, until Blizzard fixes the issue. Start foaming at the mouth now.

Diablo 3 has suffered more technical woes today, with the implementation of patch 1.0.3.

The patch  has forced Blizzard to restrict anyone buying a new digital copy of Diablo 3 to Starter Edition content only for the next 72 hours.

If this applies to you, then this is all the content you can access for the next three days:

  • Act I up to the Skeleton King is available
  • Level 13 cap
  • Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players
  • No Auction House access (Real Money or Gold)
  • Global Play is not available
  • Players attempting to connect to Diablo III Starter Edition in a region other than their Battle.net account’s home region will receive Error 12

As spotted by Kotaku, A member of Blizzard’s Diablo 3 support team then hopped onto the official Diablo 3 forums to clear up the confusion, “Digital purchases do require a review period before they kick over from Starter to Full editions.”

“We apologise for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone’s play experience”

“The delay is no longer than three days, and is often much quicker than that. Hang tight. :)

We’ll have more updates as it happens.

‘Several Thousand’ Diablo 3 Battle.net Accounts Suspended Or Banned – Blizzard

Author: Arthur Ricky  //  Category: Games and Players, others

Blizzard punishes Diablo 3 cheaters for violating its terms of use, suspending accounts and banning others for using bots, hacks and exploits.

Diablo 3 account suspensions and outright bans are into the “several thousand” according to Blizzard, which has confirmed that it has taken action against players running bots and hacks

“We recently issued a round of account suspensions and bans to several thousand Diablo 3 players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using botting or hacking programs while playing,” community manager Zarhym wrote on the Diablo 3 forums.

“In addition to undermining the spirit of fair play that’s essential to everyone’s enjoyment of the game, botting, hacking, and other such exploitive behavior can contribute to stability and performance issues with the Battle.net service.

“As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and fun online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we’ll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.”

Blizzard previously warned it would take action against players using cheats, hacks and exploits.

An outright ban will mean players can no longer play any version of Diablo 3, which relies on a battle.net connection to run.

Diablo 3: Blizzard Delays Real-Money Auction House Again

Author: ally keer  //  Category: Games and Players, NDS

Blizzard confirms that Diablo 3’s real-money auction house won’t launch go live in May.

Diablo 3’s real-money auction house has been delayed due to the game’s launch problems, Blizzard has confirmed.

No new date for the region-specific marketplace has been announced.

“In light of the post-launch obstacles we’ve encountered, we have made the decision to move the launch of the real-money auction house beyond the previously estimated May time frame,” reads the latest update from the developer.

“As we mentioned in our original announcement, our goal has always been to ensure everyone has the smoothest experience possible when the real-money auction house launches, and we need a bit more time to iron out the existing general stability and gameplay issues before that feature goes live. While we don’t have a new launch date to share just yet, we’ll have more information soon.”

Blizzard had already moved the post-launch release of the real-money section of the auction-house to late May. European players will be abel to trade in British pounds (GBP), Euros (EUR) and Russian Rubles (RUB).

Diablo 3 Finally Rated ‘Mature’ In South Korea

Blizzard Auction House given the all-clear by ratings board.

Diablo 3 has been given the all-clear by South Korea’s game rating board, amid fears Blizzard’s real-cash auction house would be a sticking point in the gambling-concious country.

Diablo 3’s yet-to-be-confirmed simultaneous worldwide release date was thought to be in jeopardy should South Korea fail to come to a decision over the game, although Blizzard denied it was an issue.

Diablo 3 has now been granted an 18-and-over rating in the gaming-mad country.

Blizzard Confirms Diablo 3 Is Headed To Consoles

Author: ally keer  //  Category: Games and Players, PS3, Xbox

Diablo 3 is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 according to Blizzard community manager.

Diablo 3 is set for a console release according to Blizzard community manager Bashiok.

Asked whether he could “confirm or deny Diablo 3 is coming to consoles?” via Twitter the CM replied: “Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project.”

Blizzard has been more than open about the fact it’s exploring how Diablo 3 would work on consoles, with a large number of vacancies posted relating to the PS3 and Xbox 360 development.

It’s no surprise that there’s a lead designer on the case, but Blizzard has always stressed that a console version of the game has not officially been announced.

While it doesn’t constitute an official announcement, the confirmation appears to suggest that Diablo 3 will arrive on consoles in one form or another, while Diablo 3 game director Jay Wilson recently confirmed “Asia is not what’s holding us back. You’ll see soon enough.” Is a console announcement incoming?

Diablo 3’s cash-money auction house could prove a substantial stumbling block to a faithful console version, but Blizzard could be looking at a work-around.

Diablo 3 is currently in invite-only beta on PC – the game will launch in ‘early 2012′ but no release date has been confirmed.

We’ve dropped Blizzard a line for further confirmation.

Diablo 3: Asia Not Holding Up Release, Game Unfinished – Dev

Diablo 3 Game Director clarifies release speculation.

Diablo 3 Game Director Jay Wilson has confirmed that the South Korean game rating board is not responsible for holding up the worldwide release of the game.

“Asia is not what’s holding us back. You’ll see soon enough,” Wilson tweeted, adding that the game “is not done yet”.

A report by The Korea Times yesterday suggested that Blizzard’s promise of a simultaneous worldwide Diablo 3 release could be held-up by a Korean rating body after it took exception to the cash-element of the Auction House.

Diablo 3 remains in closed beta on PC, and Blizzard continues to explore the possibility of bringing the game to consoles. Could “You’ll see soon enough,” refer to an incoming announcement.

Keep those fingers crossed, console fans.

Diablo 3 Release Date Could Be Delayed

Author: Arthur Ricky  //  Category: Games and Players

South Korean game rating board could throw a spanner in simultaneous worldwide release.

Diablo 3’s release could be jeopordised by the most recent refusal by South Korea’s Game Rating Board to pass the game for release in the country.

“Committee members are conflicted about what to do with Diablo 3 because of Blizzard’s information on the game’s ‘auction house’ feature,” a board spokesman told Korea Times.

The high proportion of gamers in South Korea’s population are huge fans of Blizzard’s games Starcraft, WoW and Diablo, but Diablo 3’s real-money auction house could represent a problem for the board which has strict guidelines to limit videogame gambling.

“In principle, we are always committed to a global release,” a spokesperson for Blizzard said.

Diablo 3 is currently in closed beta, while Blizzard has yet to set a final release date for the action-RPG.

Yep, Another Call of Duty is on the Way Next Year

Call of Duty Black Ops Moon

What would be truly surprising to hear one of these days is that a new Call of Duty game won’t be coming out the following year. That won’t be the case this year as — to almost literally no one’s surprise — Activision is planning to have a new Call of Duty out in 2012.

While everyone’s attention is currently directed towards Modern Warfare 3 with it having launched today, development on the next entry in the series is no doubt well underway. Its existence was confirmed during an investors conference call today as CEO Bobby Kotick stated both it and two Blizzard games (one being Diablo III) will be out next year.
