Bethesda has confirmed that the long-awaited Skyrim Creatino Kit will launch this week.

Skyrim’s modding suite, the Creation Kit, will launch on Tuesday 7 February, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed.

“For our Skyrim PC fans, the Creation Kit is on track for release on Tuesday. And, we also have a special surprise with it,” Hines tweeted.

Given that the Creation Kit enables gamers to create their own content, could “a special surprise” be some sort of new content?

Bethesda has remained coy on it’s plans for Skyrim DLC, saying only that it will be substantial and improve the game.

MW3 DLC maps headed to PS3 via CoD Elite this month.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gets its first DLC content for PS3 on 28 February.

Activision has announced the start of the nine-month content season for MW3 on PS3 after the Liberation and Piazza maps dropped for Xbox 360 (via CoD Elite) at the end of January.

Liberation and Piazza will now be available for all Call of Duty Elite subscribers from 28 February, in line with Activision’s Xbox Live exclusivity agreement.

Channel 4 has launched SuperMe, an online series based in The Sims 3.

The Sims are now the subject of an unchoreographed online TV Show, which “points to the future of interactive storytelling,” according to its makers.

SuperMe simply drops four of the popular EA characters into a situation then records the ensuing interaction – each character has different ambitions which will be documented via the show.

“It’s incredibly moving and funny at times, and a true collaboration between humans and robots,” said Paul Bennun, the chief creative officer at production company Somethin’ Else. “We have become very attached to them. We are delighted to be able to work with Channel 4 Education to make it real.”

“This is one of the most exciting projects we have made yet and points to the future of interactive storytelling.”

Skyrim’s long-awaited next patch also being sent for PS3, Xbox 360 certification next week, Creation Kit not far away either.

Skyrim’s hugely-anticipated 1.4 update will miss its promised January release date on PS3 and Xbox 360, but isn’t delayed by much, Bethesda has confirmed.

“We really appreciate the feedback from our Steam Beta. We anticipate the 1.4 update going live next week for all on the PC and being sent to the console manufacturers. The Creation Kit won’t be far behind,” the developer posted on the Skyrim forums.

The called-for PS3 performance fixes sound as if they’re active in the 1.4 patch too.

“Using saves we’ve collected from the community, we’re really seeing some great results with the 1.4 update. Thanks to everyone!” adds the post.
